Education: University of Memphis School of Law, Juris Doctorate with high honors in 1994. University of Memphis, Bachelor of Arts in journalism, magna cum laude, in 1991; While in law school, Ms. Fletcher was the recipient of the Herbert Herff Scholarship Award, the West Publishing Award, for excellence in Evidence, and the American Jurisprudence Award for Property II. Ms. Fletcher also served as a member of the University of Memphis Law Review.
Professional: Upon graduation, Ms. Fletcher served a 1-year judicial clerkship with the Honorable Alan E. Highers of the Tennessee Court of Appeals, Western Division.
Since entering private practice, Ms. Fletcher has represented management in various labor and employment related matters including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, federal and state Drug Free Workplace Act laws, state employment and discrimination laws, and state unemployment compensation laws. Ms. Fletcher’s practice areas also include legal training, human resources consulting, state and federal court litigation, handling of charges before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and civil appeals. She has particular expertise in the defense of FLSA Collective Action cases and has obtained favorable rulings in several cases that have served to eliminate or severely limit the scope of the litigation and resulted in the substantial reduction of exposure to the client.
In addition to her labor and employment experience, Ms. Fletcher works frequently in commercial, transportation, contracts, general liability and complex litigation. Ms. Fletcher is relied upon by her clients and members of the firm for intense motion and appellate practice, and has successfully briefed and argued cases before multiple agencies, federal and statedistrict courts, and federal and state appellate courts.
